Educational Strategy Sessions
Practical, structured support for autistic adults and for adults in a parent or carer role.
Request 1:1 Education SessionSection 1: Who this is for
These sessions are for adults aged 18 and over who want structured support to clarify their priorities and turn general educational ideas into practical next steps.
Sessions may focus on routines and planning, communication preparation, self-advocacy, environmental preferences, preparing for workplace or educational conversations, and applying ideas from my books and educational resources.
Sessions are also available to adults seeking support in their role as a parent or carer. In these sessions, the adult is the client. We may organise the adult’s observations, review household routines and prepare questions for relevant local professionals. The child is not assessed, observed, diagnosed or treated as part of this service.
Before a session is confirmed, I will review the requested topic and the country or jurisdiction in which you will be physically located. A session can proceed only where the work is suitable for this service and can be provided lawfully, professionally and with appropriate insurance.
Section 2: What we can work on
Depending on your goals, a session may help you to:
- clarify your priorities and identify practical next steps;
- develop routines, planning systems and ways to organise tasks;
- prepare for workplace, educational, healthcare or family conversations;
- explore communication preferences, boundaries and self-advocacy;
- review demands on your time and energy and consider practical changes;
- reflect on environmental preferences and prepare questions about possible adjustments;
- apply general ideas from my books and educational resources; and
- review strategies you have tried and decide what to do next.
We will work with your own descriptions, choices and goals. These sessions do not determine whether you or another person is autistic, interpret screening questionnaires diagnostically, provide a psychological formulation, or assess or treat a mental-health or medical condition.
Section 3: Important boundaries
I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist in the United Kingdom. In these sessions, I work in a narrower educational and coaching role rather than providing clinical psychology or psychological therapy. I remain subject to the professional standards that apply to me as an HCPC registrant.
This service does not include diagnosis, psychological assessment, clinical formulation, psychotherapy, treatment of mental-health or medical conditions, trauma processing, medication advice, crisis care, ongoing clinical risk management, occupational-health or legal advice, or reports and recommendations for third parties.
These sessions are not a substitute for healthcare in your location. If clinical assessment, treatment or urgent support appears more appropriate, the session may be paused or ended and you will be encouraged to contact a suitable professional or emergency service where you are located.
Any separate request for psychological therapy would be considered only where I am legally authorised, appropriately insured and satisfied that remote work is clinically suitable. It would require a separate assessment, agreement and consent process.
Although this is not a crisis service, I may need to take appropriate action or share information if a serious safety or safeguarding concern arises, in accordance with my legal and professional responsibilities.
Section 4: Fee and format
Sessions are delivered by Zoom and charged at $300 per hour.
Between-session contact is for administration only, such as booking, payment, rescheduling or brief clarification. Coaching, therapy, risk support and clinical advice are not provided by email.
